Getting caught smoking weed.

Long story short, I got caught smoking weed last night by a cop.

He said since I didn't have much weed on me anyway and since I was cooperative, this will be most likely be taken as a minor offense.

Chances are, prosecutor will fine me and take away my license or something.

or it could go in as a diversion.

My common app account says

Have you ever been adjudicated guilty or convicted of a misdemeanor, felony, or other crime? Note that you are not required to answer "yes" to this question, or provide an explanation, if the criminal adjudication or conviction has been expunged, sealed, annulled, pardoned, destroyed, erased, impounded, or otherwise ordered by a court to be kept confidential.

what does it mean by "expunged, sealed, annulled, pardoned, destroyed, erased, impounded, or otherwise ordered by a court to be kept confidential."?

should I report to common app if it goes in as a diversion?
I know I have to if I'm charged in court or something...
but is it same as being charged by prosecutor?

first you have to consider the time component of the question. It does not ask if you’ve been arrested. It asks if you’ve been convicted/adjudicated gulity – past tense. You have not been convicted/adjudicated guilty at this time. I might add it is in your interest to avoid this finality until all your college apps are submitted.

On a side note, does the specific wording of the common app leave open the middle ground of “no contest”?
