What major?
Calculate your CP CSU GPA using 9-11th grades. Only AP/IB classes qualify for the extra honors points in the calculation and only for 10-11th grade. http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Journalism/ Public Relations… How do I go about calulations?
You use only your a-g courses which are Science/Math/History/English/Language grades from 9-11th grade.
For 1 semester of AP courses in 10-11th, you get 1 honors points, up to 8 honors points for 8 semesters.
Count up #A’s, B’s, C’s etc. enter into calculator. Add up the # of AP courses by semester and enter into Honors points then hit determine. If unsure, you can PM me your grades and I will give it a try. What is your ACT score breakdown?
okay, I have 4 semesters with all A’s and 1 semester with a B+. 10th-11th grade 5 AP classes
You need all your grades for these classes, not just AP classes.
What did you get in English 9-11th? Math? Science? etc…
okay, here it is//
23 A’s ( 9th-11)
1 B+( AP 10th)
1 B-( 9th)
5 AP classes
I didn’t add any honors classes
ACT breakdown – Eng 25-Math 25-Reading 33- Science 28/ overall 28
@cam1998: I get a CP GPA of 4.24. Along with your ACT score, I think you have a very good chance at getting into SLO ED.
Will you be able to afford the OOS costs? Approx. $25K/year for tuition/housing/meals along with another $248/unit OOS fee which puts the price tag around $4000/quarter x3 which totals around $37K/year? Since SLO is a Cal State, you will receive little to no FA.
yes I can afford it. I just came back from their EPIC engineering camp, this is my first choice college, Should i consider taking the ACT again to raise it?
I feel like I have a good chance, but I am nervous. I was interested in event planning, but at a different level. I spoke to some people this weekend and they advised me to focus on Public Relations in Journalism and the Liberal Arts college. I do know that Liberal Arts and Ag, would be the best colleges for me to apply. do you feel like both colleges are pretty equal with my stats? thanks for all your help
I am rereading these post: I did add in my spanish grades, should I have not?
Yes, Spanish grades should be included.
Cal Poly admits by major, not college. The acceptance rate for the Recreation Admin major is higher than Journalism, but if you apply ED and are deferred to RD, you can change your major.
You are probably a solid candidate but, SLO is difficult to predict, especially for OOS applicants.
Apply broadly.
would you mind doing another calculation? I didn’t add correctly. thanks
9th-11th
19 A’s
3 B’s
4 AP
10 honors
I previously added Spanish classes
okay, so I am good with the calculations then. thanks
another question: If I apply to recreation admin, could I take a concentration in public relations?
Public relations is not a concentration nor major/minor available at SLO, you could however minor in communications or have one of these concentrations for the RTPA major.
In addition to major requirements and the full range of general education and support courses, the curriculum provides an opportunity for students to specialize in certain areas through concentrations and emphasis areas. These courses are designed to fully educate and prepare students for cultural diversity, community engagement, and international understanding in a global society. Students may also choose to complete a minor rather than a concentration (Academic Minor Form) or an Individualized Course of Study rather than a concentration. The RPTA department offers four official concentrations and one emphasis area.
