Getting in touch with other UMASS students

<p>To all,</p>

<p>I am a transfer student that has recently accepted admission for the fall to UMASS Amherst. As someone who will only be completing his last two years at the college, I want to start making friends and connections as soon as possible (this of course involves the possibility of finding a roommate). So I'm wondering if anyone might want to get in touch with me about, well, just getting to know each other. Maybe we could even exchange e-mail address. In any event, I figured that in an attempt to reach out to the prospective UMASS community I'd post a little something here. I'm also wondering if anyone else is a Transfer Student who's going to the July 16-17 orientation? And if you're wondering here's a little bit about me:</p>

<p>My name is Tom.
I'm in the Commonwealth College at UMASS and majoring in Chemistry with a minor in Psychology.
I love to play guitar, snowboard, listen to music (all kinds but especially clasic rock), work out, relax, hike, camp, and do other fun things.
I'm 20 years old (soon to be 21 in June...woo!) and I'm from New Jersey.</p>

<p>So like I said, feel free to private message me or respond in this thread so we can chat. I think it'd be great to be going up to UMASS and already know at least a couple of people, don't you? Anyway...hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to a fun summer, I know I am. Hope to talk soon.</p>

<p>Thankfully, I've been able to get in touch with two people after posting this thread, but aren't there more than just two people transfering to UMass for this Fall. Anyone else want to get in touch before orientation?</p>

<p>the housing packet will be mailed out this next week and it includes a roommate search service. this would be a good way to connect with other incoming students and also find a roommate.</p>

<p>there are lots of incoming transfer students, just not here. we expect 200-250 at each of the transfer orientation sessions.</p>
