Getting into a DPT program

Our D is just going to start her 2nd semester freshman year. She is currently a dual degree student with a major in Exercise Physiology and Dance. She came into her freshman year with 40 credits due to AP courses including Psychology, Calculus, and 1st Semester Biology. She completed 2nd Semester Biology last semester. She will be taking 1st semester Chemistry this semester and is intending to take Anthropology and Physics 1 this summer at a local Community college.

I think if she only took the balance of courses required for entry into a DPT program rather than complete her BS in Exercise Physiology she could complete her undergrad education in 3 years rather than 4. She would graduate with a BA in Dance. Her current GPA is a 4.0 after her first semester. She has 57.5 credit hours after her first semester. She really has expressed no desire to be an Exercise Physiologist and wants to be a Physical Therapist. I understand it would give her less time to get in shadowing hours and prepare for the GRE. Would she be at any disadvantage for entry into a DPT program by dropping her Exercise Physiology degree and only pursuing the appropriate courses?

I think she’d be fine. Does she know which DPT programs she’ll be applying to? Just make sure she knows the prereqs for each program, since each one will have specific requirements/classes.
