Getting into a good college without any honors or AP classes?

Penn State University Park
U Pitt
U of Michigan
U of Florida

I'm going to be entering my junior year of high school and I will be taking my first honors class. I would take honors my senior year but since i will be applying in the beginning of senior year i dont know if it will make a difference.
Freshman year- 3.4
Sophomore- 3.9
If i continue to get straight A's will not taking honors effect the chances of me getting in or not.
Bye the way, Penn state is my number one choice and i want to go there for business.
And i know this is really really late but i will start volunteering, working, and joining clubs my junior year. The only reason i didnt start that earlier was because i had no one to drive me places but i get my license soon so that wont be a problem anymore.
Also taking my SAT junior year and my goal is to get an 1800.

Any advice would be helpful! Thank You!

Not taking any honors will almost guarantee you won’t get in. most top students take honors classes and get 3.8 to 3.9 gpa’s

With your current stats, you probably have a slimmer chance than usual at UMich and Penn State. You should realize at this point that the schools on your list are safeties for students who load up on rigorous courses and have better stats.
Do you have the slightest idea of what you’re interested in studying? If so, take maybe 1 AP and a couple of honors geared toward your future major of choice. Ex: AP Biology, Honors Anatomy and Physiology, Honors Spanish 4 for a degree that has to do with medicine. Really, challenge yourself. Do as much as you can handle. Challenging yourself shows that you have taken initiative. Also, I would check out the stats of your college list. You may need to earn a higher SAT score, etc… to get into your school of choice.
