Getting into a top prep school like Exeter or Andover for senior year

A hook is one of those things that either you have one or you don’t. If you don’t, there is just no way to conjure one out of thin air.

@axlethetraveller I’m sorry, but I don’t understand what you are talking about. BS stands for boarding school. You currently live in a dorm. How can you be attending boarding school that is not a boarding school? I’m really just trying to understand your situation so that you can get the advice you need.

@catinthehat579 Oh, sorry. I thought it stands for best schools. lol. Just to clarify, I am in a boarding school already.

@london203 I am currently attending a BS. Sorry, I thought BS stands for best schools.

Oh, Axle… What the heck are we going to do with you?

Sorry. Haha.

So. that begs the question: if you are unhappy in boarding school, what makes you think that changing to another for your senior year will be a good thing to do?

@london203 I don’t mean that I don’t like the school. I am comfortable with my school life, and I did make some day student friends. I just don’t like the boarding program because the school does not care a lot about boarding students. I also want to go to schools that have a better learning environment and more extracurricular activities.

Sorry that I have not been able to reply sooner. I was away for a month and haven’t really been on the computerJust go with what you are passionate about or what comes naturally to you and that you are good at. It doesn’t have to be something common either, make it unique, your own and the admissions officers will see that.

Axel: When I was at Andover there was one student who graduated, then came back for one more year as a PG. So it is possible–at least at PA. And this was a while ago, so I don’t know if they’ve changed the policy or not.

@agentwood Do you know how many students typically get accepted into 11th grade in Andover every year? What about PG? What are these accepted students like?

And is it less competitive to apply as a repeat junior year (11th grade) than a PG?

Thank you everyone for replying to my thread. Your posts really helped me out in the process.

Since I am now back to school, I will continue to focus on my grades and extras to make my applications better. I am also thinking of taking the ACT in Oct since I guess most people who apply to HADES as a 11th grader has a great SAT or ACT score besides having other stunning qualities. I will continue to check this thread from time to time, and will keep you guys updated on my process when I start applying in probably November.

I hope you guys can continue to keep an attention on this post in the meanwhile.
Thanks!!!

Looks like gratuitous window-dressing to me. I assume that admissions offices will see it for what it is (or what it appears to be).

@axlethetraveller Let me know what happens today! Good luck!

@Penguins75 I have decided to quit this plan. I may apply to PG next year depending on the circumstance. But thanks for your concerns.
