Getting Into An Ivy League

Hey guys I apologize for the brief inconvenience, but I was wondering on whether getting into an Ivy League school is realistically an option for me. I am currently a junior.

Here are my credentials

Recommendations: I have 3 teachers along with my counselor, dean, and principal which whom will write recommmendations for me. I believe they'll be nice. Though there are many exceptional students in my grade and school

Volunteering: At A local Church for three years

Work Experience; None

These are all my stats and credentials so far. My most struggling year was tenth grade however and beyond my academic record i believe coleges will look at that year. PLease let me know if I am on the right track for an ivy league college and could possibly be excepted. I know its exagerrated and cliche but I'm aiming for Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and as an International school Oxford.

I think you would be considered a strong applicant, but of course the odds when applying to any Ivy are not the best. I’d say you have as good a chance as anyone, and that you just have to take a leap of faith when you apply and hope to be admitted/accepted. Definitely look into applying to safeties in case these don’t work out, but it’s good to shoot for the stars; I wish you luck!

What is your interests? Any awards?

When it comes to the ivies, your stats are not enough to gauge whether you will get in or not. Everyone has stats that look like yours. It’s going to come down to your personality (shown through your essays), what your teachers have to say about you (most recs are nice, but what qualities are specific to you and you alone; they should talk about specific contributions you have made in the classroom that have stood out), and then your interview has the potential to make a difference (though in most cases it does not). They want the best of the best from every possible sub group you can imagine to create a diverse and talented class every year.
My point is, it is worth a shot to apply because you are qualified, but don’t think you’re going to get in. You have just as good of a chance as every other qualified student. and the bottom line is, thousands of qualified students are rejected each year.

If you want to play guessing games with HS kids, got to the ‘Chances’ section. No one can tell you your chances. They can only tell you if you are ‘in range’ which you can check yourself by looking up CDS info on average gpa and SAT. But program rigor is very important too. Everyone ‘in range’ has a shot. But they will only end up taking 1 out of 10, so make your list accordingly and don’t give short shrift to more realistic colleges.

What are your SAT 1 subscores? 2250 can be great or it can be good, depending on how it breaks down.

What’s AP Health?

How can your Jr. yr. GPA be above 4.0 is they don’t weigh? If you have an unweighted of 3.7, you are a step behind most qualified candidates.
