Getting into an MBA with an MSM

I am looking at getting an MSM (from UF Gainesville) - which from my understanding is essentially the first year of an MBA program.

I'm not sure how long I'll be in Gainesville...so does anybody know if an MSM will effectively transfer to another school...so as to avoid the first year of an MBA program?

Also, anybody with an MSM have any feedback on having just the MSM?

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks!

By and large, good MBA programs do not accept transfer credits.

Thanks for the reply!

Though, does anyone with an MSM have any feedback on how it's working out for them?

Hi,
the MSM degree from UF is a great degree, but not a sub for an MBA. It will, however satisfy the requirements for entrance into an accelerated MBA if you go to a school with such a program. If you're interested in UF, why not forgo the MSM and apply for their 1 year accelerated MBA, there is an option "B" for non business majors. The average GMAT is ~690.

Thank you for the response!

One of the main reasons I wasn't sure about going for the MBA, as opposed to the MSM, is because I wasn't sure I could get in. I have been doing sales for about 4 years, have a bachelor's in Advertising with a roughly 3.2 gpa, and would most likely do above average on the gmat. I wasn't sure if that would be enough to get me in. The interview is by invite only, and I'm sure if I could get one, then that would help a lot (I AM in sales!), but there's no guarantee.

You said the MSM from UF is great, but no sub for an MBA - which I am aware of, but what makes it great?

What kinds of doors will be opened with an MSM?

Also, yes I will be looking at an accelerated MBA, should I go ahead and get my MSM.

Thank you again for the past feedback, and any future answers/info you have!

Also, any good sites that covers these kinds of questions? Yes, I tried google, and they don't have a whole lot of hits for "MSM".

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
