I've been accepted into Letters and Science as a transfer student and will petition to get into the econ major this fall. Most transfer students in my position only have to finish a stats class and an econ class their first semester but I will have to take calculus 2 (1b) in addition to these. Does anyone know if having to finish 3 prereqs my first semester will put me at a disadvantage, or make me less competitive in getting accepted to the major?

In addition, I'm worried that classes may be full and prevent me from finishing my prereqs in the fall semester. Anyone know if I'd have any chance of getting into the major after my first semester?

Yes, I’m aware of that. But you have to declare your major the first semester as a transfer student and you have to have all prereqs complete by the end of that semester.

Given the shortage of available spaces in certain classes I hope I’ll actually be able to get into the three I need. And then I hope I dont get owned taking calc2, stats20, and econ100A
all at the same time :/

“How did you not realize that you had to take calculus to declare for economics? Did you decide last minute that you want to do econ?”

No, I knew the requirements and had planned to finish both calc1 & 2 over the summer but the summer sessions at my community college have been cut down, so this isn’t possible.

i don’t quite understand how they expect all the econ transfers to take econ 100a/b or 101a…101a (the class i had hoped to take already has all its discussions already filled up and 100a only has 1 seat left and 100b only has 15 seats left in discussions…
