*Note: I posted this on the NYU board but it's being ignored, so I'm posting it again with a few alterations.

I was unable to attend high school due to medical conditions (chronic daily migraines and a sleep disorder). Since then, I've gotten my problems under control and I have been working ever since. Once I turn 18, I plan on getting my GED. I was wondering how this looks on an application to NYU. I have researched a countless amount of schools and NYU is the one I really have my heart set on. I would like to study International Relations at CAS. Does NYU look down upon GED applicants, no matter how high their test scores are? I've heard that it's harder to get in as a transfer than as a freshman, but do you think in my case they'd be more likely to accept me after finishing a year or two at a state/community college? Should I just take a few college level classes then apply as a freshman? What other things should I do to improve my chances?

Also, the other schools I have been considering (but to be used as a gateway to NYU) are Wake Tech(local community college), NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, East Carolina University, UConn Stamford, and the CUNY schools. I'm just wondering, if I don't get in to NYU as a freshman, which would look best on my transfer?

Help and opinions would be awesome.
Thanks!
