Ive been thinking about getting into petroE, but my school VT doesnt offer that program. It does have mechE, miningE, and oceanE. Which one of these could put me in a better position for petroE? And what other things could I do to tailor my resume for a petroE internship?

mechE is your safest bet I’d say. Never heard of mining or ocean engineering.

ME for sure. I would talk to your counselor about other classes you could take maybe in the OE and MinE departments that would help

Wouldn’t ChemE be a good choice? Of the people I know who’ve worked in oil, all but one are ChemEs.

Ive never liked chemistry, so I wouldnt be a good fit for chemE.

Besides, dont chemE guys work in the downstream part of oil?

Well I mean you could get a job upstream but yeah your degree is more suited for downstream for sure. I don’t really like chem either, you’re just going to have to suck it up in PetrE though because you’ll be taking a good amount of chem courses.
