Getting mail from Harvard?

I just received my 5th email from Harvard. On top of that, I received a package through the mail. This is just promotion right, or are they interested at least somewhat?

Harvard has purchased your name, based upon your test scores, from the College Board or ACT for $0.33. They could also have purchased 50,000 or 100,000 other names too. It’s not random, and it’s not special. And, it certainly doesn’t mean that your chances of acceptance are better. Harvard is trying to get your attention and make sure you think about them when you submit your applications. Unfortunately, this is one of the ways colleges use to boost their overall numbers and drive down the acceptance rates. See: <a href=“Bloomberg - Are you a robot?”>Bloomberg - Are you a robot?; and <a href=“Bloomberg - Are you a robot?”>Bloomberg - Are you a robot?;

Yep, kind of figured. It’s kind of annoying though that they do it just so they can look ever more prestigious and selective when admission rates are put up

You may be a great applicant for Harvard, but no student should get their hopes up from mailings and promotional material. That said, there’s a lottery expression: You can’t win it if you’re not in it.
