how difficult would it be for an instate student, top 1-2 percent in his class, white, 3.7 unweighted with a lot of honors/ap classes, and a 29 on the ACT, to get financial aid, sholarship, and loan money for uiuc? if so, how much?

Though there are a number merit scholarships available, most are small amounts and having only a 29 ACT makes it doubtful even for that. Need based financial aid is based on FAFSA, and you should assume that most are disappointed with the aid given; UIUC does not guarantee to meet 100% of need, usually comes in at about 70%, and many end up with a lot of loans rather than grants.

like drusba said, it’s tough. i was first in my class at a top in-state public school, 4.0 UW gpa, 35 ACT, 2380 SAT, with tons of extracurriculars and research and stuff. and yet, i still saw money from u of i only trickle in. in the end, putting together everything i got i think it was $11,000 in scholarships for my first year. basically, u of i is no longer a place that can be considered “affordable” by in-state students

oh btw, i dont qualify for financial aid, so i cant comment on how their grants and loans are

what if i got a 30 on my ACT? Also, how about if my family makes about $70,000 a year?
