It was better than I expected it to be. The first day was the worst. It’s impossible to eat anything solid so I ended up consuming a strange concoction of liquids throughout the day…and threw up :p. I don’t remember it hurting much afterward - maybe a dull pain. I didn’t take any meds other than basic painkillers.

After one to two weeks I was completely fine.

thanks everyone for your advice =) i will get my doctor to check it out once i get my insurance back xp

@Emaheevul: No, I didn’t have the laughing gas. I just had novocain (I’m pretty sure that’s what it was) – several shots of it. So I was genuinely awake and could hear everything. I remember that for some reason, one side of my mouth wouldn’t go numb, so he had to keep injecting more novocain on that side, and had to do the other side first while the novocain on that side took effect.

I second nysmile about the corn and peas. I actually used ice in a plastic baggie, and secured a bag against each cheek using an Ace bandage. But I suppose that if you have school, you can’t do this. For the people who went to school the next day after having your wisdom teeth out: did your surgeon not tell you to do the ice thing, or did you just not do it? I was ordered to do it multiple times throughout the day, which would not have worked if I had had school (I got mine out over the summer).

I iced my face the other day just because of the toothache and my mom looked at me like I was CRAZY! XD My parents just had theirs out within the last 5 years or so and apparently their surgeon didn’t even tell them to use ice.

I managed to negotiate Tuesday off from school, so I am optimistic that this will work out. Getting nervous now though. :\ Might have to call the dentist and ask if it’s okay to take an ativan before I go. But I get steak for dinner tomorrow!

What the hell is an ativan?

It is an anxiety medication similar-ish to valium. I have heard it in movies before so I guess I just assumed that was common knowledge. Whoops.

I figured as much. Definitely ask your doctor about that…

For the record I have a prescription for that. XD And the doc says it is okay. Soo in nine hours I will likely be too sleepy to be on the computer and then I will stop whining!

And they are out. I am bleeding a bit more than I think I am supposed to. It is disgusting and I can’t swallow without making it bleed more. I am stuck trying to sop up bloody drool with paper towels because he didn’t give me any extra gauze and I am not allowed to spit. Ew.

But the procedure itself was fine. The gas was a waste of time and we ended up just turning it off, it made me shake but I was completely clear headed so it didn’t even do anything useful to begin with. But I didn’t feel anything at all, even pressure, and only even heard the sound of the tools on my teeth. It was only a bit worse than a regular cleaning and each tooth took less than a minute.

It’s a surprisingly quick procedure eh?

Oh god yes. I didn’t even know he’d touched me yet when the first tooth was out, it was literally out within like five seconds. The second tooth had broken the surface of the gum entirely but wasn’t protruding yet, so that one was a bit harder to get out but it still took less than a minute. I couldn’t believe it. I got six shots to numb me and only felt two of them, too. Two on the outside of the gums, two on the inside-- which hurt for a moment, and then two more on the outside that I wasn’t even aware he did. He is really skilled at holding the tools in a way that I don’t manage to see them, too, I wanted to check out the needle and never even managed to see it.

I am eating Wendy’s. XD I am starving. The blood is completely disgusting, I hope it stops soon. I was supposed to have gauze for a half hour and I left it in for 45 minutes just to be safe but when I took it out I was still bleeding a lot. The food appears to be stopping it for some reason, though. Strange. I just hope the anesthetic wears off soon, I keep dripping food all over my face and not realizing it. lmao

I think I bled for like an hour and a half… I can’t remember. It sucked, there are a couple blood stains on my laptop from it they wash off easily I just haven’t bothered.

My face was numb for many many hours though.

I remember when I finally regained consciousness from the surgery, I whipped out my phone to make a twitter update about how my surgery went well. But it turns out I had already made an update. The “twilight sedation” really does make you completely forget everything that happens while you’re on it.

I accidentally told my friend I was “still dumb” instead of “numb” when I whipped out my phone afterward. lol I have thus far managed to keep from bleeding on anything, but I think if I laid down it would be a problem. I’ll have to put a towel over my pillows.

My mom keeps coming in every few minutes to see if I am loopy from the vicodin. lol. Oddly I am still sitting at the computer!

I had all 4 cut out at the same time. I was put under general anesthesia. It really wasn’t that bad! Be sure and follow the instructions your doctor gives you. I have friends who have had terrible dry socket problems. Yuck! It seemed very painful. I was lucky, though, and didn’t have any issues. Good luck!

Baha I am making my boyfriend take me to the jewelry store to look at engagement rings. I win at wisdom teeth extraction.

Oh my god. I am going to pull my skin off. I have had codeine before in cough medicine but apparently in higher doses it makes me ITCH LIKE MY SKIN IS ON FIRE.
