The Wait!

I am waiting for my RD decisions, and they are all I can think of. One day, I feel like I will get accepted and on the other I feel as if I am going to be rejected by everyone of my colleges. I can’t concentrate on my studies. How can I cope with this?

i feel the same way for my son. We are waiting for one more school to respond if he has been admitted. Working out and jogging help reduce the “what if” scenarios in my mind. On a positive note, final decisions are just around the corner!

All of the schools will want mid year and final grades. Colleges can and do rescind offers when students let their grades slide. Focus on the consequences of neglecting your studies. That should snap you out of it:-)
P.s. Remember, patience is a virtue. A watched pot never boils. All things come to those who wait. Good things are worth waiting for. The best is yet to come. And so on…

It is definitely a roller coaster of emotions. We decided everyone in the family needs to exercise more alleviate the stress!

I feel the same way waiting for March, when the last of the colleges my dd applied to will notify of their decisions. I try and distract myself and keep busy. But I still have this underlying anxiety that is hard to shake! This too shall pass is the best motto I can come up with. Know that you are not alone :-SS

I really can’t stand the waiting. It also seems like the college accepted student days are 2 weeks from knowing if you got in. How do we plan around that? I guess that’s why students apply EA. We didn’t even start looking at schools until August so EA wasn’t an option.

The wait is agonizing. I just tossed out all the college brochures to the schools my son didn’t end up applying to. Now it really feels like the last stage of this adventure.

Go eat ice cream.

There are quite a few people who have insight, and for them I am grateful - gathering all the info I can and recalculating and reading helps me cope and know that we have done all we could. It may never make sense why they dont and why they do get in, but as more than one of us has already heard/read - our kids will have their own great experience and chart their own unique course no matter where they go. We need to reassure them that we are proud of them for where they are today, and where they go to school does not diminish their achievements either now or later.

It usually seems like DS is more relaxed the past couple weeks, since most all the applications, interviews, and supplementary uploads are done and his classes are easier this semester. But, then he will have a bad day and I’ll see how stressed he is underneath it all about the news coming in March. It’s tough on kids these days. (And that is with 3 acceptances in the bag, but 15 more to come in March.)

Ice cream and video games…
