How hard is it to get recruited for Track at CMU?

CMU doesn’t give out sports scholarships, if that’s what you’re looking for. They don’t do the whole “You’re a football player who happens to go to Carnegie Mellon” - instead, they go “You’re a Carnegie Mellon student who happens to play football.” There’s no real preferential treatment, etc.

Contact the coach. If you come out and do the workouts, then you should be able to get invited to a few meets.

Hey I’m a little late on this but I posted a simliar thread and just recently saw this. Granted CMU does not give scholarships because they are not allowed due to their NCAA DIII status. However, I have heard from someone that plays soccer for the Tartans that it is much easier to get into CMU if you are going to compete on a team. But, I have also heard from others that it really doesn’t make any difference in the admission process. I’m interested in track/xc for Class of 2014. What events do you do/did you get in contact with the coach?
