Hi guys,
I'm just so scared atm b/c I only have 1.5 months left until the PSAT next year (rising junior) and my SAT scores suck (barely reach 2000) and I am studying so hard but see no improvement. I take official BB tests and review them afterwards for 1-2 hours, outlining my mistakes as I read the explanations online. I'M SO FRUSTRATED WHY MY SCORES AREN'T IMPROVING. Any suggestions? Please?
P.S.: I'm thinking of just giving up self-studying and joining Knewton instead b/c I see no improvement. Is that a good idea?

“my SAT scores suck (barely reach 2000)”—> Are you serious???Reaching 2000 is not bad at all.

Try focusing on your mistakes and do as much questions about it as you can.
Also, try to find why every single answer is WRONG before finding why the correct answer is correct.

If you are frustrated from your scores then hundreds of students would kill themselves after seeing your post.

OP
Barely reaching 2000 is a high score for a sophomore. Mine was 185 in the same year. Yes it felt like crap. But my PSAT for junior year was 210, which means…?

Zosilo
On your last sentence, yes I agree :)

Sometimes studying seems futile, but it isn’t. Keep going.

No need to take the whole test at one sitting. Take individual sections and then really study the rationale they provide for the right answer. Do this on both the questions you get right and wrong. After time, the pattern of what they are looking for will become clearer.

You are also at a performance level where little test taking errors may be starting to play a role (e.g., the “dumb mistakes”). Be on the lookout for those.

You might also track your errors between tests, and see if you repeatedly miss the same kind of Q. If so, focus on them and figure out what you don’t understand about them.

But in general, I think you are on a solid track, and should not be stressing/freaking.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the encouragement. I’ve decided to take individual sections as suggested- I usually take the whole test to build stamina, etc but I think it would be better as I can do more of other SAT prep stuff.
Also, I plan on taking all of the RR (1 test total) and Gruber’s (5-6 test total) in addition to the 22-24 official CB tests that I have (just for practice). Is that OK?
Btdubs, people in my school are scoring high 2000s as rising juniors, thus is the reason why I am so concerned. Also, I think I expect too much out of one single test, like ebtween any 2 single tests I expect to see a 20-40 point increase. Thanks anyways guys! (I did get a 189 on my PSAT this year benhpark).
I will start tracking my mistakes- stupid mistakes are costing me a lot btdubs, UT84321.

^by RR do you mean Rocket Review?

@violinplayer: yes, Rocket Review

the psat is in October right?

@amorestare: yes, it’s in October but I won’t have much time in the school year b/c of extracurriculars, school, etc.

Actually, I want to re-bump this thread due to new reasons:
A: I’m stuck in mid 600s in writing. ANY HELP PLEASE? (I do writing sections every day, including full Barron’s tests, and I have purchased Barrons writing workbook :()
B: I am now hitting 2050-ish. I think writing is bringing my score down and I only missed 4 math questions and I made a 700 on math. Curve is ridic.

Writing is easy to improve. Just learn the common mistakes and practice.
