So in June i decided to study for the SAT and try to aim for a 2000+ for October. I was at an 1800. Over the summer, i got really lazy and only raised up to 1850->1950 range. PSATs are around the corner and i am dead. I am a junior......... my math score is generally around 660. Reading around 620. Writing around 620. Ah! I can't find time to study for the SAT now, i barely have time left over after hw.. and my grades are dropping. Has any of you just gone up on ure scores throughout the schoolyear without trying? I know through 10th grade i went up from 1500 to 1800. I was wondering if i could go from 1900 to 2000 just throughout the schoolyear... hmm any tips for now?

Psat's do not matter, unless you qualify for national merit. You are a JR, you still have plenty of time to raise your score. It's good that you realize your problem- laziness.

Now, work to solve that problem. Trust me, you will have time to study for SAT's..
And generally, scores should increase by even a little throughout the year b/c you are learning new math, new vocabulary in english, etc.

any tips? Maybe 1 section/night? If that's possible with all the hw :[

ughh psat soon, i gotta do something.

psat is not that tough, less Qs and no essay, and u're already in the 1900s range, dont worry about it.and for sat, dont even worry about it,save it for the summer after junior or something, just do some miini prep thruough junior yr, do hard core prep in summer~~ let me tell u about my experience~
last yr junior yr i took my psat and sat(retarded i was, both in oct LOL,) i got 1430 for sat, and 159 for psat, i look like a dummy dont i ? then i studied and did alot of prep... in may,i took it again, though i was still disappointed,i got 1800~ then summer came along, i studied from summer to now, and im getting 2100's in QAS, yesterday i took the oct,it went well, except cr lol. u have alot of time, dont stress out,700-800 points increase in a yr, u're already in the 1800s, dont sweat it!

LOL
ren and i share the same story

Wait, Ren, you got a 1430 on all three sections?! That's an incredible improvement haha, I thought (probably because of your name and cause you're very active in these forums) that you regularly receive 2300s on any test you take haha. That's pretty cool though to improve 700ish points, incredible actually haha.

lol same here. Beginning of soph year, i had a 1460... and a 153 on the PSAT.. both in october, i know. Gr, i think i may have dropped from 1900 to 1800s now. I m gonna take a practice PSAT tomorrow. Hope i break 210.

Look, You're Only Going To Get Less Than 2000 If You Tolerate It. You Have To Be More Strict With Yourself About These Things. Tell Yourself There Is 0 Toleration For <2000 Score And Work Harder. Focus On Vocab Mb. Or Math. Whichever Is Easiest For You To Raise.

One thing you definitely shouldn't do though is capitalize the first letter of each word in a sentence unless necessary. You have to be very strict with yourself about these things, zero tolerance for unnecessary capitalization and you should be fine.

LOL
Strange Indian Foo and Ren share my story

I just hope that my story has a happy ending

Do a lot of prep over your winter vacation, maybe take your first SAT second semester of junior year. Most people get better at SATs without trying and see some natural improvement just cus of the school year. Practicing on top of that will probably get you above 2000.

10th Grade PSAT (1400) -> 11th Grade PSAT (1880) -> 11th Grade SAT (1880) -> 12th Grade SAT (Expecting something good... :])

10th PSAT 196
11th PSAT 219
11th SAT 2250
12th SAT in November - hopefully I jump to the next level, 2300+ :)

i have the same problem..but it isn't too late i guess...i hate junior yr...arghhhh...
