Getting teacher rec from Community College?

As a junior, I will have no more math courses left to take at school, so I will need to resort to a community college to continue taking math classes. I don't feel that I have a close enough connection to my current math teacher for him to truly know me (also taking into consideration that it'll be a whole nother year before I'll ask him to write the rec) and I feel that the community college teacher will write a more personal rec because he won't have to write 100+ letters, unlike the high school teacher and i will have taken multiple courses under that instructor. On the MIT website, it didn't specify who could write the rec except for a math or science teacher and I was wondering if it was possible to get a Community college teacher to write it.

I’d email Admissions and ask. Worst-case, though, you can send your community college recommendation as a supplemental recommendation.

Alright, thanks! I’ll be sure to email them then :/

I strongly suspect this won’t be any sort of issue. After all, you’re talking about getting a letter from a professor who will have instructed you in several math courses – sounds like it fits the definition of a math teacher perfectly to me. There’s no requirement that the recommendation letter be written by someone whose job description is “high school teacher”.

Thats great then! Thanks for your help
