Getting to/from Potsdam

My daugheter was accepted and seems interested in going there but we are very concerned about getting to/from the college on holidays. We live in the Baltimore/DC area and it would require a flight from Massena to Albany and then from Albany to home. getting to/from the airport in Massena is also a concern, especially in the winter months. Not even sure they have ground transporation options at that airport.

How do students who live too far to drive manage?

What about Ottawa? Go to Ottawa and fly directly? Maybe they have shuttles to an airport around breaks?

I’ve never been there but that’s what I thought of from looking at the map.

Ottawa looks to be almost a 2 hour drive, and mostly on roads that will probably not be in good conditon during winter weather. Thats probably what scares me more than the need to change planes. When we visited I asked about transporation to the airport but the admission’s counselor seemed to think we were referring to a tiny air strip near campus. Most of the people we know who have attended Clarkson were from the NY area - near Syracuse - and they drove to/from Clarkson. They did say that the roads they used were often closed due to snow conditions.

I will probably have DD contact admissions and see if they will put her in touch with current students from our area - they should be able to give us the scoop.

Let us know what she comes up with. If I end up going to Clarkson I’ll need to figure out how to get to and from Florida.

Adirondack Trailways buses leave from town and stop at the Syracuse airport. On the way up from the airport, they stop at Clarkson’s campus.

Lots of students drive toward Syracuse or Albany, so rides are easy to catch.
