i took the PSAT last year as a sophomore and got a 206. Recently I took a practice SAT from the blue book and got a 1960. Has this happened to anyone? Also, do I have any hopes of improving? My goal used to be 2250+. Is this still realistic? Anyone out there done this?

one test? and you are already using that to base our future SAT score?
Maybe you didn't doyour best, take atleast 2 more to atleast have ANY idea of what kind of score you will have.

Don't get dejected...there could be lots of reasons you didn't perform as well on one test. Lots of people improve in real testing condition when the adrenaline kicks in. You may have been distracted. You may have taken it in the evening when you perform better in the morning. You may not have eaten enough, or may have eaten too much. The point is that you can't, as darkzeroman said, predict your SAT scores based on one practice test...

don't worry about it at all; the SAT is supposed to be harder than the PSAT (especially with the essay) so a slightly lower score is no reason for concern

and anything's possible with lots of studying and self-motivation...

Basically, I don't think that the PSAT is really that great of a measure of how you will do on your SAT. For example, I got a 214 on my PSAT but a 2250 on my SAT with no prep in-between them. One of my friends got a 210 on his PSAT but a 1900 on his SAT with prep in-between. Basically, don't use your PSAT as TOO much of a gauge, or at least that's what I think.
