As you all know, Gettysburg College is going to release its decisions in about two-three weeks from now.
How are you guys feeling - anxious, excited, scared or confident?
What are your expectations? What is your gut saying to you?
Finally, in these last few days before the decisions come out, what do you all feel like doing?
Share it all up!!!

This waiting is not good, i am not liking at all. i have been logging on to mygettysburg account everyday for the past week(as if that would help anything lol).
Can’t the responses come out already!

My feeling about this admission process is that there has to be a better way for all concerned. My son has been admitted to 4 schools, has been deferred at 3 and has no rejections to date.

So we are currently holding up seats at 3 schools and we are waiting for others to give up their seats at 3 schools, all of which my son is interested in going to.

Don’t worry, your son is not really holding three spaces–schools have a pretty good idea of what their yields are going to be, and they offer admission to more people than they have seats for, because they know most students have several offers. Similarly, the schools where he was deferred will not automatically open a spot for someone on the waiting list just because someone else turns the school down. Believe me, the colleges are very good with the numbers game, because they have to be. That said, there have been a few public institutions in the last few years that have ended up with more students than they anticipated due to more students accepting their offers because of financial concerns. It all works out in the end, and unless a student applied ED, they have until May to compare offers and make a final decision.

Now, to all the Gettysburg hopefuls—are they releasing decisions online this year? Smart idea if they are. I just asked my dd, who is a first year student at Gburg, and she is pretty sure there was not any online notification last year. It was right about this time in mid-March that she got her paper acceptance. I’m sorry if you guys are going to have to wait a few weeks longer. I hope decisions come sooner than that for you. Good luck all.

Went in search of the answer to my question. From Gburg’s website:

Can I use myGettysburg to find out my admissions decision?
Admissions decisions are mailed to students and will not be posted in myGettysburg. You can expect your admissions decision to be mailed approximately:

•mid-December for Early Decision I (Nov. 15 application deadline)
•mid-February for Early Decision II (Jan. 15 application deadline)
•late March for Regular Decision (Feb. 1 application deadline)

I’m pretty sure that the decisions came mid-March last year and the several years prior. Yes, we were that obsessed that we researched right here on CC for dates during the past. So, instead of checking your Gettysburg account, run to your mailboxes every day. Wishing the best for all Gburg hopefuls.

ETA: It wasn’t until March 21 that the first of the regular decision envelopes were received last year. If that holds true for this year, you all have about another week to go. Hang in there!

I got in Early Decision 1 in December. I found out by constantly checking MyGettysburg until one day it finally said “Congratulations on your acceptance to the Class of 2016!” All my financial aid was updated as well. My actual acceptance letter didn’t come until about a week and a half later. This might just have been an ED thing though, but definitely keep checking MyGettysburg. That’s how a lot of people I talked to found out. Hope that helps everyone out. I remember how nervous I was waiting for my decision. Good luck!

My son received his admissions packet in the mail today! He has not yet heard from his other schools, so he was relieved and excited to be accepted. A very nice way to start the weekend. Hope everyone hears soon.

got waitlisted- and i thought my stats were good- i think it might have to do with the financial aid package i requested disappointed but not devastated, going to request being kept on the waitlist

To the poster who asked about merit scholarships: Last year, those notifications came with the admission letters, as well as financial aid info. I would guess it will probably be the same this year, but of course that is only my guess.

@kmh456 - we only live about 2 1/2 hours away from Gettysburg, so not too far. @unodosytracy - My son did receive merit scholarships in the same packet with his acceptance. Also got the whole financial aid package with it.
