I have about four colleges that I am deciding between Gettysburg, Franklin & Marshall, Hobart William Smith and Wheaton MA. I think my favorites are F&M and Gettysburg. I went to the accepted students days for both Gburg and F&M and I really like them both, they both have very nice campuses and I really like the people. Infact we just got back from Gettysburg today. I would like to possibly major in Psychology with a minor in environmental sciences to go on the law school so I would also be pre-law. Some parts of Lancaster were'nt very nice, only dowtown was very cute and nice. All of Gettysburg was very nice and cute, although i had the hardest time finding shops to go into. Are there any significant differences between the two colleges. Any opinions on either or both colleges would be great.

My son decided on Gettysburg at admitted students day. I dont know about the other schools you are still thinking about. But as far as Gettysburg we felt it had everything he was looking for. A nice town and a beautiful campus. What kind of stores were you looking for? We went to the outets while we were there and they had alot of great stores to shop at. I know there is bus service to get there.

I read somewhere that Gettysburg’s students tended to be more politically conservative than liberal. Plus, I heard that Gettysburg’s social life revolves around the fraternities and sororities (is that good or bad?). Does anyone have any thoughts on that, especially as Gettysburg might compare to say, F&M, Ursinus or Union College?

Someone said F&M’s location is not that safe - that is not true! I have been going to F&M for various activities since I was in elementary school, it is FINE around there. It is not in the slums. On one side is School Lane Hills, the most expensive area of Lancaster! The off-campus housing is on the other side, and if that looks bad you can blame the kids who live there, leaving trash on their porches and stuff.

Ursinus is in Collegeville/Trappe area. My cousin lives there. There is Nothing, it is truly boring. Pretty much any school you go to in the middle of nowhere, in an area where the residents aren’t mentally stimulated, will be a party school or a suitcase school. They gotta have something to do.
