GI Bill Tuition Fairness Act of 2013

For those of you who don't know about this bill it's currently in the House waiting for a vote.

"The Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs recently introduced bipartisan legislation - the Bipartisan GI Bill Tuition Fairness Act of 2013 (H.R. 357) that would require state operated schools to charge veterans in-state tuition rates even though they may not be residents of the states where the schools are located".

^^^- To track the bill.

This would be amazing since some schools don't participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

University of Michigan will be implementing this, as well as priority registration (to allow more timely access to benefits), in January. I see little reason as to why this wouldn’t be passed, but if it’s not, hopefully schools will do it of their own accord.

Edited to add: All veterans at UMich will be charged as instate residents regardless if they are using the GI Bill - I’m not sure if there’s a distinction in the legislation.
