Gifts for Teachers!

Who's doing it? For me, it's been somewhat of a tradition.

I did it only people at my school think you are SUCH a SUCK UP and really HATE you for it.But I always have trouble geeting gifts for my male teachers

I'm getting most of them chocolate, which can't go wrong, unless they're allergic to chocolate! :(

I gave my AP teachers gifts, since my other classes are too big for me to really know the teachers. Plus, my AP teachers are always staying after school to tutor and nice things like that.

I agree that it's harder to buy male teachers gifts. I gave my female teachers nice chocolate with mushy cards, but I gave my one guy teacher just a nice card with a kinda stupid message. I think he'd have laughed at me if I'd given him chocolate.

I usually only gave teachers gifts if they were leaving, and then in conjunction with other people in my class (looked less of a suck up that way :D) We tried to keep things related to the subject as well and make things humorous, like a kid's musical globe for a geography teacher :D

I gave my teachers mini christmas trees this year. Surprisingly, half of my teachers did not own christmas trees at home. I guess it wasn`t such a bad idea after all.

i make/draw things for cool teachers and give chocolate bars to some other ones

i made a clay figure of a person holding dumbbells, for my weight training teacher lol
i made a blue clay dragon whose tail says Draco Dormiens nunquam titillandus, for my latin teacher (its SOOO awesome)
i made a mini clay colosseum for my latin teacher from last year
i made a small hand holding a calculator for my math teacher lol
and i made a really cool card for my english teacher, that has a picture of a scene from the Scarlet Letter

so yeah i know its a lot. i made all of the clay things one day in november because i had a lot of free time... they're just cute little things that i think my teachers will like

the other teachers i like but didnt know what to make out of clay 4 them, i just bought a godiva choccy bar lol ($2.75... whats up with that??? but its still nice... ppl in my school r obsessed w/chocolate)

so.. yeah
but i only do this cause my teachers ARE that awesome... i never had such cool teachers before

I gave my female teachers litle pots od flowers. DramPrincess- I already tried doing the whole class thing- only that most people just ride on my back and don't make any donation or contribution and are happy to sign the card but don't put ANY effort in buying it, or writing the mesage, or buying the present.. or ANYTHING.. augh it just ****es me off.. I mean I fifured I might aswell just give it to them individually and be called a suck up than be ripped off

Hey.. I need your help. Me and my friends (we call ourselves the lunch crew) have lunched at one of our teacher's room for 3 years now. Most of us have also had her for a teacher for 2 years, last year for AP lang. She's retiring next year, but we're leaving this year. We want to do something really special for her. Taking her out to dinner sounded really nice, but might be somewhat hard to do as none of us drives..... anyways, you guys are brilliant at this sort of thing.. any good ideas?

i just bake special cookies and things like that for my teachers...you can't go wrong wi/ something homemade:)

I personally would say don't do anythin too expensive but rather personal (teachers love it when you put an effort in their gifts-like ilovemath did with the clay and all that .. ral sweet - i mean put yourself in their shoes!?) But dinner doesn't sound like a good idea - how about if you all by a reall nice notebook and each of yu sign a page and personalize it.. that's what my class did for my teacher she cried when we gave it to her and the next year she told the other class she read it sometimes and flipped through it and all this mushy stuff .. sigh .. snifff (I miss her so much :( ... ---but then it only works if there are a lot of you

:( there's only five of us, and 4 xmas we gave her a pic of us in christmas background, we wrote little messages on the back and framed it in a clear backing... she loved it, but we wanted to do something more.

She also wrote recs for most of us, and they were all wonderful.

umm...gift?...teacher?...haha...I laugh...

well...maybe I should've given my AP English teacher a gift since I plan on asking her to write me a GOOD rec for UGA...hmm...

Haha thanks for reminding me, guys. I just went out and got some gifts for teachers. Too bad I haven't bought any of my friends' gifts yet...

lol shows where your priorities lie.

NOOOOOOO I forgot one for my Guidance Counselor! She's like the coolest person ever and recommended me (one of three for the school) for a summer program!

Ok screw my AP Bio teacher. I'm giving the gifts to my GC, debate coach, and LA teacher.

lol, priorities indeed :)

I always get the same thing for all my teachers each year (kind of impersonal yes, but most people don't even GIVE them anything) because I never know/have the time to buy stuff. This year I bought four boxes of expensive chocolate (well, I got it for cheap! but they don't need to know that ;)) and wrapped it and stuck it in gift bags and all, lol. so while they're grading my test over break and chomping on that chocolate...

"Heeey, this is some good stuff. I'll pretend to have never seen that wrong answer... 30 is pretty close to 9.1 x 10^-34 riiight? Of course..."

:) I wiiish, hahaha...

I only got one of my teachers a gift, and she isnt my teacher this year. I had her for 3 years of lain and she wrote my recommendation so I bought her a book of etymology sp? so when doing derivatives, she can look up possible derivs. Basically, she put up with my bs for 4 years, and I visit her 3-5 times a week.

I usually give my favorite teachers a thoughtful gift...like if s/he likes chocolate I might get them a box of chocolates, etc.

Cards. I got enough for all 12 teachers with 6 to spare for only $3. But I'm not one of those retards who just says Dear Dr. name, <generic message="" prewritten="">, Sincerely me. I write long, personalized letters. Trust me, no gift card or box of chocolates can beat a letter that tells a teacher that you care enough to sit down and write this for him/her. + W/ chocolates you are trying to fatten them. How mean!</generic>
