Gifts for the grand pups and grand kittens

Idk if we have too many gift threads!

Any gift ideas for the grand animals? We have one dog and one cat.

The dog has a dog collar from the boyfriend’s alma mater. He and his family are very rah rah about their school. Big state school. Can I buy a collar from my daughter’s school? Small private but they do have dog collars and leashes

I got my grand-dog a bone shaped stocking from Etsy last year. This year I got a bandana with his name and a couple of seasonal dog toys to put inside of it. I also got this for the kids as they like to hike with the dog (either they will love it or think it is silly LOL). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09FVM96NH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If the dog has a collar from the BF’s college I’d maybe go for a leash or something different from your D’s college so it won’t feel like you are competing.

My dog’s favorite gifts are always edible - bully sticks and treats from his favorite dog bakery.

The cat has one already. The cat is going to be hard to buy for since she is so spoiled. As are most!

The kids do like to hike. I’ll have to think about spending that much. It is really cute and useful

How about a cat cozy from TJ Maxx? Can’t have too many! We have several scattered around the house, and our cats move from one to another depending on their mood (and phases of the moon or whatnot?). I guess they like a change of scenery?

I got the grand pups a holiday scarf from Thefoggydog.com and an Advent Calendar from Trader Joe’s. I got the grand kitty an advent calendar from TJs. The whole family, including the dogs for matching pajamas from Burt’s Bees Baby.

Our grand dogs each got a new nice stainless food bowl, and big water bowl. I’m still looking for a toy for each of them.

We get all of the cats bananas or rainbows like this

The dog gets multiple toys, that she mostly promptly tears apart. If you’re looking for a toy suggestion I know lots of dogs like wubbas

Collars I like are Blueberry Pet brand on Amazon and many cute Etsy ones.

I buy my grand pup an item from Lucy and Co the last couple of years - like a reversible Sherpa/waterproof zip jacket.

Also fun are the puzzle toys that you hide snacks in - TJ/Home Goods has them for like $12-15.

This is a smaller example
Beiker Dog Puzzle Toys, Interactive Dog Toys for Smart Puppy Slow Feeding and IQ Training, Treat Puzzle Feeder to Keep Dog Busy, Brain Stimulating and Mental Enrichment Games for Small to Large Dogs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09GFW62WB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_2KE79V5CB8RTQDZCXASW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

If the cat or dog are overeaters and scarf their food down too fast, this is a great food dispenser. Also provides some entertainment for the humans.

This thread cracks me up.

At least for cats, the gift is the boxes, ribbon, and wrapping paper. That’s all we ever give our cats. If we are feeling very indulgent, they get to play with that stuff for two or three days. Yippee!

My grandkitties (as well as my cat) are getting hexbugs.

My dog loves stuffed squeaky toys.

They also get some treats and a can or two of food.

@BunsenBurner for the water fountain did you get the plastic or stainless?

If you have a pup who destroys toys, pulls all the stuffing out etc, the following are quite good. Our original Gecko made it nearly 8 years, still had all the squeakers and was barely torn at all but the newest puppy has done some damage. Still, 8 years and two other dogs one of whom was a puppy, they are pretty long lasting. We chose the tough plush toys.

I got the plastic because it was the only one available. I would get the SS if I were buying now! The plastic washes well thought; our water here is very soft.

I wonder if the plastic would be better for us since we have very hard water.

Will have to try those. Our dog kept her stuffed cake from adoption for a couple of months but now I guess she prefers to destroy so toys don’t last long at all.

I told DD’17 that I’d seen catnip bubbles so she wants to try them. They’re supposed to be more bouncy than standard kid bubbles.

Thanks for the recommendation. Just put in a request to husband to order 2 of the fire hose material toys.
