That is strange. They don’t tell you in the info session either. I guess they assume most people who apply to Barnard are passionate enough about it to go crazy waiting and check college confidential. P: It would be horrible to assume decisions would be shown online and continuously refresh the tracker on the 15th…
boricua- Do you live near NYC? I’m in NJ-- I go into the city occasionally with friends. 5’9.5… okay, there should be a law that bans people above a certain height from buying high-heeled boots. Back me up on this trapeze!
Kidding. Really.

NJ ftw!

10char

boricua–I know exactly what you mean! I’m originally from the city, and will be heading there this Saturday for some holiday parties before Christmas, and of course everyone (including 2 Barnard alums) is anxious to hear the news! So that just adds to the stress…
This is going to be the longest week ever.

@livlindsa - I couldn’t agree more. But if we can get through this we’ve survived the worst moments of teen angst in high school. We can do this girls!

Breaks into song and dance We’re all in this together!

Juuuust kidding. I’ve never even seen a full high school musical, I don’t really understand the appeal.

Any other dancers on this thread? Specifically ballet dancers?

Jaden–I’m a dancer! I did ballet for many many many years, but recently have started doing a lot of modern. I don’t want to be a dance major, but a huge reason I was drawn to Barnard was the opportunity to dance consistently.

@Shay yes I live in New Jersey too! And don’t hate the height! lol, its not ALWAYS a good thing ya know!
@livlindsa oh gosh I feel you! My mom’s best friend is the one who asked me to look at Barnard in the first place, and she is just always calling asking me what the news is! I dont need any more reminders!

The only dance experience I have is color guard, and we only learn the basics. I’d really like to take a dance class though, if I get in.
Usually days fly by for me and it’s friday before I even register it, but I agree, next week will be agonizing.

i wish i could dance…i act and sing, but i don’t have the third part of the triple threat. unfortunately. also, i know this is going back to an earlier message, but the pb&j wallet? SO cool. too bad i’m only getting cash for christmas. yay needing to save money for college.

i’m just curious, where are people from on this thread? i’m from north carolina

I’m from NJ. I also think that I’m the only one on this thread with no experience in the arts (kinda).

I keep biting my fingers going on that endless seesaw of I’ll-get-in-I-won’t-get-in-I’ll-get-in… What’s going to be epically HORRIFYING is deferment. That would be atrocious!

Wow! I didn’t realize there were some dancers on this very blog:) I’ve been training in classical ballet since age four, and currently study at the School of Richmond Ballet in their Upper Program–but in fact, I’ve branched out to modern, jazz, musical theatre, and character and now find myself really intrigued by contemporary dance as a whole. I’m hoping to double major/minor in English and Dance, and seek out opportunities to write about the arts in some form. Journalism is my other passion aside from dance:)

I’m very angsty at the moment and I believe it’s annoying the heck out of my family, but I can’t help it! We are so close!

And yes Barnard’s dance department is so amazing! Can you believe they have Allegra Kent teaching there?! The woman is practically a living legend…
And yes it’d be so awesome though I’m a bit of a bunhead so I was thinking of branching out to some other forms of dance just for fun. Barnard is so perfect for me. If only they could decide that I was perfect for them too.
Btw I love how epic this thread is becoming.

smartundecided- me too… and I catch myself thinking like I have gotten in, and then I have to remind myself and then I go through the whole doubting process all over again.

I’m curious, did everyone here do an interview? I didn’t, and since I’m from NJ, I hope it won’t hurt me too much. Ugh. I intended to, but school and ECs hit like a tidal wave and I got too overwhelmed to think properly, and then it turned out that Barnard closes interviews for ED’ers after the ED deadline (unlike Columbia).

I wish I could sing!

-
You guys sound awesome. I really wish my mom hadn’t made me quit ballet when I was five. Five!

Jaden- Yeah. It’s great talking to everyone. Makes me less stressed. I can’t believe I’m sitting here on a Sunday night when I still have homework…

And have you guys seen this: [YouTube - Saskia Hamilton (Music Video)](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)
I know I’m just full of amazing links… It’s actually a song by Ben Folds about Saskia Hamilton an English profressor at Barnard. And the music video is this really random kid singing/dancing to it haha.

I know, taking class with Allegra Kent?! It would be a dream come true! My grandmother’s best friend was actually in the same class as Twyla Tharp, and always talks about how it was such a fabulous time to be there–so much energy and talent in one place!

I had my interview in August, and it just happened to work out because I was already in the city at the Joffrey Jazz & Contemporary program! That definitely helped the interview to start off on a good note—but it’s SO nervewracking to be talking to a Barnard woman who could possibly influence your admission decision. eek!

charlieissocoollike!

@ shay33
I did an oncampus interview. I don’t think it will really affect you though, because it was just with a senior in Barnard and I feel like she was more there to answer my questions than anything. So I’m not sure if it really does anything for you and I’m sure they wouldn’t hold it against you. Also, it depends if you are even a people person or a good interviewer and such.

boricua- okay, thanks. : ) I should just stop thinking so much, haha.
Jaden- That video cracked me up.

holy mother i love charlieissocoollike so much
i love nerimon a tad more though ^__^

OK I wasn’t going to admit it in case you guys didn’t know who he was… but i love charlieissocoollike too haha
and don’t forget hexachordal and eddplant! Though neither of them had made videos for a while… I love hexachordal’s turquoise hair. Sons of Admirals <3
