I surveyed some kids and that's what I got. I need some evidence that explains the difference.

This sounds suspiciously like homework you want CC to do for you.

I’m hunting ideas. Okay, how’s this? Women have to invest much more time in carrying and nurturing a child, while men have more time and desire to spread their genes. Does this explain men and women’s differing beliefs?

Biologically, the goal of the male is to spread sperm to as many females as possible in order to reproduce and pass along genes. Females have to choose the right “one” b/c it takes long for them to conceive offspring. Biogeeks correct me if I’m wrong. :)

Disagree with the biological argument. Evidence: orgasms. Females are capable of many times more orgasms within any set period of time. Also, physiologically, men are tired after orgasm, slowed down, etc.

The system is designed for men to mate once, women many times. I’d think the OP is wrong is assuming that only women believe in true love. Who gives flowers, writes fairy tales, plays the active role of the handsome prince searching for a princess, etc.?

I think men and women are wired differently and the earlier posters biological explanations make sense to me.

What difference does it make? Inevitably the notion of true love is mostly brain chemistry and the honeymoon wears off for everyone. Everyone comes to realize that a successful relationship is a lot of hard work.
