Where would this go in my application? Its not an EC but its not an "academic award or honor". I'm hoping to get a chance to list the program, the elected positions I held, and the awards I won but I can't figure out where to put this information! Thanks!

It would help if you said what it was.

Girls/Boys State are leadership programs run by the American Legion. They select several hundred rising seniors from each state interested in government who then organize and run a mock government for one week during the summer. Each Girls/Boys State program then selects two students to act as “Senators” who represent their state at Girls/Boys Nation, a mock federal government program held in DC.

I attended and I dunno where to put it, either. On the one hand, it is a selective process to get to attend, but the fact that you have to dedicate a week of your life to the thing seems to seperate it from a piece of paper you recieve for being on the honor roll. Tough call.

Not sure where you guys live, but I just put mine under the “Colleges & Universities” section under the “Education” umbrella of the app. You can’t explicitly state that it was Boys/Girls State/Nation, but you CAN put that it was an enrichment program, and then state where it was held (in my case, Eastern Illinois University). I’m just adding a little paragraph in the “Additional Information” section about how it was Boys State and listing some of the positions I was elected to and the awards I won.

thats not a bad idea especially since my girls state program had a college course attached! that does leave me stuck as far as girls nation though since that was at a random camp thing and not associated with a college. I’m considering uploading a resume in the additional info section and I could just put it there?

As long as its on ur app ur fine…I’m putting girls state/nation wherever I feel it looks good…or ask ur GC…:)
