Some find it offensive, many think it is ground-breaking. The certainty is that this is 15 minutes of fame which today has UIUC Engineering in an uproar. Likely, this will become a must-have item for engineering students nationwide:

Haha. LOL!

Even though i'm a chick, I find that clever. Most girls think once you become an engineer you become nerdy and gross, and that's totally untrue (well, some of the time =P). However, it doesn't appeal to the younger crowd (high school), so I think its kind of pointless. There needs to be something that will appeal more to high school aged girls that isnt "Women in Engineering Day" or something of that nature. Spending a day inside a classroom leanring about other women who have built super computers didnt get me into engineering. Knowing there was cool stuff got me into it, as well as knowing engineering wouldnt be a total drag.

Are you in that calendar?

Clever indeed.

They say they have lost money. If they can advertise it properly I can see that changing. For $6..... Why not?

amusing, but I don't find it offensive nor ground-breaking
I don't think the purpose of the calendar was to try to encourage more girls in high school to pursue engineering o.0
just an interesting way to raise money (or at least try to)

if u go into engineering, you might be less hot than before :D
if ur really really hot then you can come out of engineering still being a little hot :D

chaoses - the same applies for guys, do not worry. but thanks, you can now be added to the list of reasons why girls don't go into engineering.

I think chaoses was joking. What you said doesn't make any sense. Since you agreed in retort, how would the engineering profession make one less attractive?

Ouch, you go burned!!

.. He was just joking, shoebox.

i'll buy one.

It was just a stab back =P Knowing a guy is not only good looking and nice, but smart too, is actually a huge bonus haha. I enjoy being around all the guys in engineering, they don't ***** as much as girls do.
Storytime: in my engineering workshop last semester, my TA stuck all of the girls in my class (all 4 including me) together to do a project. About halfway through I was talking to him about part of the projected, and he commented that we were doing well (although it did seemed like he was suprised we were doing well) and asked if it was easier with all girls. I told him it was alright, even though I just wanted to smack him upside the head because all we did was just sit around and ***** about the ideas. Guys, however, I find are much easier to work with just because once a solution that works is met and is improved upon, they go with the flow. Girls ALWAYS want to sit around and pick everything apart. Blah!

Wallpapers...

I think it's a great idea.

Eh...........

The one who is complaining in the article is definitely ugly.

I still want to know what shoebox10 looks like.

That seems like a trend with you. I remember when you were asking aibarr how she looked it.

Yeah, it's a curiosity thing. But for shoebox, I want to know because she came across as very arrogant in that one thread. I find it humorous that she's avoiding the subject entirely.

i can't go into that link

Honestly, there's no way to survive in engineering being a female unless you're arrogant. It gets you attention, then you can be smart, then everyone finally listens to you. It's a bad way to go, but its worked.
