Give me a chance? please :-)

Hey you guys, first time poster, so please forgive me if I did something wrong. Seems like a very intresting forum and I feel overwhelmed with all the topics/information. Some of you guys are quite the star students.

I go to a pretty exclusive private school in Georgia, so due to the amount of quality students at my high school, i do not really stand out and my class rank is terrible due to this. Im sixth decile, will that hurt my chances of getting in? Im mainly considering out of state schools that probably do not usually get admissions from my HS, so will they just consider it a normal HS. Some of the ones im looking at don't take interviews.

Here is my stats...

GPA: Weighted 3.4 UW 3.1
SAT Reading:600
Mathematics:600
Got an 1800 overall on the SAT

Classes
Have taken AP World History (got a 3), Honors 9th grade english, Honors Physics, and 3 years of Latin. Also took Pre-caulcusus

Extra-Curric:

I have totalled over 350 community service hours throughout high-school, recieved the Presidential Call to Service award, Gold level.

Worked for two years for four weeks as a camp counsulor at a Christian overnight camp, training young leaders in a leardership cabin.

Have gone on three week long mission trips to mexico helping out at a local orphanage.

During club time for an entire year I went with a group that reads to kids at a local school.

Volunteered at special olympics during my freshman year.

Volunteered for three years at spring and fall youth leadership retreats. In which young teens come to , to learn about leadership. I volunteered to help teach at these retreats.

Also I am a United Kingdom/United States DUAL citizen, if that helps.

As you can see I am not a star student academicly, but am heavily involved in volunteer work, any chance of getting into these schools.

Pepperdine
University of Georgia
University of Central Florida
NYU (doubtful I know)
UCLA (very doubtful I know)
Auburn

Also any recs. for colleges in Cali, Georgia, Florida, that I have a shot at? Thanks so much
God Bless

faithwins1

i dont know about most of your colleges, but ucla is a high reach

ps try other ucs, the application has passed for this year, but if your a junior then its okay

I am a junior, this is for next year, and all these people are putting a lot of pressure on me. Mainly I want to get into a pretty decent school, with my top school being pepperdine, but any other recs would be great.

Thanks again

i would try for ucsd, ucsb, cal poly slo, usc (if you can afford it), uc davis

these are all good schools in cali

I'm not sure about the others, but Georgia and Auburn should be a pretty good chance at getting in.

thanks... anyone else have any opinions?

don't worry, I am totally in the same boat as you, and it sounds like your extracurriculars really stand out. Id say auburn for sure. A really helpful site is princetonreview.com, it chances you on any given school on their database. Good luck! :-)
