Give Me Your Best Reason & Persuade Me

I FIRST WANT TO SAY CONGRADS TO ALL THAT GOT IN, I just got into ILR.

I love to have fun and enjoy my weekends. I know all about the work and so forth, but my question is Ithica, middle of no where. Will I enjoy it.

What is it to do? Why are the students steady coming back? How are the dorms? What about the students?

I mean I am really considering Cornell. I am an african american and I know that AA compose a small percent of Cornell students. However, I am from a school mostly white, but really cool people.
Not racist and I dont tolerate it either. Hard worker but I'm still young and expect to have fun.

Should I come, or should I go to Georgetown, Harvard, or somewhere thats not Cornell.

Help I really need some advice.

you did not apply to my intended school, so i would say go to Cornell!!

Ithaca is in the middle of nowhere, but I never find myself bored. There is always something to do. There are usually events organized by the school and lots of parties every weekend. There are so many people concentrated on campus that you'll always find someone to hang out with or something to do. If you're the type of person who needs a skyline or absolutely must go clubbing every weekend, then you won't enjoy it as much.

There are so many different styles of dorms it's hard to say whether or not they're "bad", but on the whole I think it's pretty good. All the freshman dorms are grouped together which is very nice. About a 1/3 of sophomores stay on campus, and then after that almost everyone goes off-campus. The housing, depending on where you live, varies in price. If you want a 1 bedroom studio smack dab in the middle of Collegetown, it'll cost you like $900 easy. It's easy to find cheap housing so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm not far off campus in a nice 5 bedroom house that I'm renting with my friends and it's cheaper than the dorms. I know this is looking far ahead but it's something to consider.

You'll meet a ton of New Yorkers here because of the state schools, but it's not so bad. They tend to shower ;) It seems that race seems to be an issue to you? I don't think I've met a single racist person here. There are a lot of people from a lot of different backgrounds. It's pretty cool.

One good thing about being at a large school is that there are so many people here that you'll find people you like.

As for the ILR program itself, you probably know more about it than I do so I couldn't answer anything about that. Good luck with the rest of your admissions process :)

edit: I don't think it's right for anyone to necessarily persuade you to go to one school or another (it's a decision you have to make on your own) so I tried to answer your questions as honestly as possible. I also don't know anything about Gtown or Harvard except they are in much more urban environments.

Cornell is a great place, but it really isn't for those who want to combine college with life in the big city. I am not from a big city so I didn't mind going to college in a small city. I didn't like Ithaca (not my kind of town), but the Cornell campus is great and as everyone else says, you will find plenty to do.

At Cornell you will find people from many different ethnic backgrounds. You will notice a lot of racial segregation on campus. Some people make a big deal about this but I don't. Students socialize with people who they are most comfortable with, whether it be other athletes, musicians, or students from the same race. It is the same on every college campus.

no, don't go to cornell, reject the offer now, i heard they got hidden werewolves in the quad lol
