<p>Does anyone know which group (class, club, program, etc.) went to Costa Rica last year during spring break? I know the trip pertained to global health -- does anyone know if it was the Global Health FOCUS, a global health class, or some other group?</p>

<p>I am in the Global Health cluster this fall, and the head of the FOCUS e-mailed us all about a possible trip to Costa Rica over fall break. Hope this helps.</p>
<p>It was the Spring FOCUS group. This was a program that's different from the usual FOCUS (the program that many of you enrolled in that involves taking certain classes and living in a specific dorm with other kids in the same FOCUS). This was in the Spring, offered to both Freshmen and Sophomores (I don't THINK it was offered to Juniors and Seniors, but I could be wrong), and obviously they didn't live together (since people were already in certain dorms by the time they applied). I believe that all that it really consisted of was two Global Health related classes and the once-a-week dinner - someone who knows better can correct me if I'm wrong. I'm pretty sure they only took 2 classes out of the 4 together, though, since they didn't provide a Writing 20 like the fall FOCUS does. The Fall Global Health FOCUS is new this year - I think it was started after the success of this past Spring's program, and as part of a push to start more Global Health programs on campus (this April marked the creation of a brand new certificate in Global Health as well). </p>
<p>As tapdancingcoffee said, it's very likely that this fall's Global Health kids may take a fall break trip, but keep in mind that fall break is really just an extended weekend, so it's not very much time at all (approx. 5 days, although you may get out of classes for an extra 2-3 or something to provide for a longer trip, I have no idea). But yeah, the Costa Rica trip this past Spring Break was for the Spring FOCUS kids - separate from the Global Health FOCUS offered this fall.</p>
<p>A few of my friends were in Global Health this past spring and loved it. They also had a blast in Costa Rica over spring break.</p>
<p>I wouldn't be too worried about the shortness of fall break being the determining factor in whether or not to do the trip because the Russia FOCUS has gone to Russia every year except one over fall break.</p>
