Global Studies with middle eastern emphasis

Is this major worthless? Or is there something marketable about it. Say, if it is combined with a French major, and a bunch of computer science classes.

Or what about double major in French/Computer Science, and taking as many Arabic classes as possible?

I advised my son to do the latter if he is really interested in Arabic. He is very fluent in French going into freshman year at W & M, and he will be in French 305 due to scoring 5 on the French AP test. So he really wants to major in French, but wants to combine it with other stuff he is interested in as well.

It's not worthless. He could plan to work in the UN, NGOs, WHO, WBO, or a think tank. I myself am majoring in International studies/Global studies and Public Health. Also, I'm studying Chinese and French.

I tried to talk him into Chinese, they are the real threat to us, if you want to look at it from that perspective. The Arabs are not a big threat really. I support him in whatever he decides.

My dad more or less made me major in accounting, and I hate it even though I support my family on it.

I have sworn to support my kids, no matter how wacky I think they are in their choices.
