Global Youth Summit on the Future of Medicine

Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone else has gotten invited to the summit in 2015, and if anyone who has been in previous years could share how it was for them, and hopefully be a bit more specific than the website. Thanks!

Surprised this was the only post about the Youth Summit for 2015. I was invited and it’s also my first year hearing about this program, I’ve already applied and been accepted!

do you know anything helpful about it?

It didn’t take very long for them to reply and they just ask about class rank and gpa. Also I don’t know if you saw the video but that had a lot of information along the likes of what they do.

how long did it take for you to get an answer i just submitted mine

and thanks i hadn’t seen the video

About a week

Also nice to meet someone who is also going!

ok thanks nice to meet you too

just got in :-bd

Congrats guys! I went two summers ago and absolutely loved it! Let me know if you have any questions!

Congrats Miguel! :)) Also bandit what is some advise that you would recommend for someone who has never been in The Boston area before

And I have just one more question-how long after acceptance are more materials sent out, so I have a better understanding of when I should have the $280 in, and my travel form filled out.

And thanks @Paramorereject‌

Welcome! Too bad they don’t pay for travel fee, for me it costs $350 and I live in Texas. Which I guess makes sense, considering how far away that is from Boston. How much is travel costing for you? @migueltheking‌

Around 150 but I live in Michigan so it’s closer @Paramorereject‌

$3000 for a week? What do you feel you will gain from attending this program?

I’m applying for a schlorship, so if they don’t accept, I’m afraid I won’t be able to go. Money aside, I find it to be a very educating experience especially with the schedule that the GYS team has prepared for this years summit (Harvard Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital, a live Hip Replacement Surgery) it will give me an opportunity to have an experience that I would have not otherwise have.

I looked at the website, and in my opinion, it is nothing but a money making program. I know none of you have said this, but it will not do anything to enhance your college application. You would be better off doing anything else, a job, volunteer work, camp counselor etc. JMO, mom of a med school student.

If you look at another discussion on here, you find a whole letter that answers a ton of the questions that we all have. I applied and got in too, but I don’t know if I’m going to go since its SO much money and the lectures don’t really seem worth spending that kind of cash.
