I recently received an email from George Mason University saying that I have been “cordially invited to apply to Mason Global Gateway.” From the email, it appears that this program allows you to study abroad the spring semester of freshman year (choosing from five different locations). I searched for this program online, but can’t find any additional information about it. Is this a brand new program? Has anyone else received this email?
I also got the email and I too can’t find anything on it. I did the application I am just wondering when I hear back. I mean it sounds like it’s official. So like, congratulations on the opportunity, I guess?
I have just emailed them to find more about the program. Here is the email they sent me:
“Thank you for your email and congratulations on being accepted! The deadline to apply to the Global Gateway program is May 1 (the same date as the deposit deadline to Mason). However, it is recommended you apply as soon as possible as we have a limited number of spaces at each location site. Students who apply earlier are more likely to get their top site pick. You do not have to be committed to Mason to apply to Global Gateway. We will be checking applications to Global Gateway against who has committed to Mason if you need a bit more time to decide about that.”
I emailed the office and they said that they anticipate decisions going out around mid-May.
I got it too and recently got placed in Chile. It seems that you’re basically living there with other students and paying for it as if you’re living on Mason.
I got in! They are sending me to Australia!
My son might be interested in the Perth program for Spring 2020. I would love to hear how you like it! I have a coworker whose son got into the South Korea one and he’s super excite
