I was at Smith over the weekend to see my D in her last race of the season, and stopped by the art museum to kill time while she was finishing up with her team. Right now Smith is hosting an exhibit of prints by the South African artist William Kentridge, whom I had never heard of. It is the most interesting and powerful body of artwork I have seen in a very long time. If anyone should be on campus before the exhibit leaves in January, I would highly recommend a visit to the show. Some of the prints can also be seen at museums like the Tate and the Metropolitan. It seems extraordinary to me that a small museum like Smith's could be showing such significant and monumental pieces.
