who else here was at open campus? what were your impressions of the campus? the people? the classes?

i thought the campus was gorge! but the map completly unreadable, i hate to say, but i thought the students were more accepting of the other prospies than the other prospies, but that could just be b/c it was all new and unfamiliar. And the classes, welll i only sat in on one and it was an intro to art hist, i felt that the prof was great but he had to really fish for comments/discussion, and that the other students were not really into it much. also i didn't really think he was teaching at all further than the periferal level, but that could just be me, ( i was well versed in the artist he was teaching).

But all in all i loved smith and i really can't wait to start, i started looking at the housing form on banner web and choosing the classes i want to take next fall......ahhhh!

This is a late reply, but I just wanted to put in a plug here and say that yes, the Maps are terrible. They were bad when I was a prospie, they're bad now that I'm a student, and they're horrible to hand out to prospie's as a tour guide. They are WAY out of proportion. But otherwise, can't wait to have you on campus next year. :-)

I have an idea; its very easy to get a satellite pic of the entire area. Maybe someone in the art dept could get an accurate representation via a satellite map, copy it to art paper, draw a colorful map with descriptions, etc. and presto, no more lop-sided, useless map. Or use PhotoShop to enhance the map and, again, overlay color and descriptions.
