I plan to major in biochem/molecular/cell biology. I havent heard much about the bio program at Northwestern, and i'd like an honest opinion from someone who is currently majoring in bio at NW or knows a lot about it..please help me out. NW is my number one private and im contemplating whether or not i should just go to a UC (prob Berkeley or SD) or NW if i get accepted. Although quality of bio program is very important, im not soley basing my decision on that. BTW, if here are my stats just incase it helps:

currently attend one of CA's top 10 public schools, extremely competitive

class- 1st semester grade, 2nd semester grade
9th grade Biology- A, A
11th grade AP Biology- A, A

AP Test Score for Biology- 5
Biology M SAT II Score- 780

im a sophomore bio major, i dont know what to tell you, the bio program's good, it allows you to concentrate in one of 7 areas, you can find them all on the website, some are human bio, neurobio, genetics and molec bio, biochem, or physio, if you're assertive you can find work in a lab, its usually only open to work-study students though. the bio professors here are great, they know what they're doing and are good lecturers. the bio background you'll get is strong, second year you take a 210 level sequence as opposed to the 100-level at most unis initially, its tough though i know kids that take it during the summer at harvard so they dont have to deal with it, only bio majors are required to take it but most premeds do, its mostly like at other schools, all the premed classes will be difficult though. first midterm average was a 59, no one made higher than a 92, genetics is the hardest though ive heard
