going away

Hey everybody
I was wondering if yall could give me some advice. I have been attending a community college since high school for almost 1 1/2 years. I have worked atleast part time since i was 16. I still live at home. I want to go to Colorado State ( I live in Maryland) for their Veterinary program and also to get away from here. I know it sounds childish but my parents and i have never gotten along real well nor understood eachother. I have always been independant but they are constantly trying to make me lean on them so they can use it for control. For example, I accepted a cheap car from them just to get around and i could not afford a car at the time. If i dont do what they say, even something as simple as cleaning my room or doing the dishes, they threaten to take the car. I do pay insurance, gas, and all repairs but the car is in their name. I know i should sound grateful but i know that they only bought it to have some sort of control over me. I do do chores but i often dont have much time. I usually go to college right after work or visa versa and work all weekend. If i had known this i would never have accepted the car. Recently i've gotten a job at a emergency vet hospital that will give me experience in my field. The problem is that i will only be working there for a year and they expect more. I dont like to deceive people. It is the perfect opportunity but its not in Colorado. My parents want me to stay here for the job and attend Maryland Univ. (they also have a vet program) but i need to move away where my parents cannot only influence me, but blackmail me as they have done in the past. My mom has offered to get me an apartment but i can only imagine what problems it will cost me. I've tried talking to my parents about it but they are biased and tell me that our pastor said I am just being immature. My dilemma is that i can either work at the vet hospital for a year then go to Colorado or stay here for the job and deal with another couple of years with my parents.

Most veterinary schools accept mostly students from their own geographic region. It's harder to get into the veterinary school of a different region.

Also, isn't the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine mostly in Blacksburg at Virginia Tech, rather than at College Park?
