Going from Cal Poly to Graduate School

I have been reading around lately on this forum and some people say that Cal Poly just prepares for jobs where as the UC system helps to prepare for graduate school.

I was wondering if anyone had any details on what graduate schools think of students from cal poly.

I went to school with a woman who had two kids go to Cal Poly as undergrad–her son was in a grad program there, as well. I think he was in BioMedical Engineering. I’ll have to ask her what his opinions are. I know they both loved their time at Cal Poly, period! I’ll get back to you.

magias, here is the link of Cal Poly’s graduate survey. Choose a major and show “undergradute”, at the bottom of each page, you can see how many go to graduate school, where they go and what major.

You can also choose “all” as major, it will show a long list.

Thanks Watermark. That was a great link! I am sure that a CP degree will look good to graduate schools too. They know the repuatation of the programs there. Also, I think it is smart to go to a school that prepares you for a job. These days, that is very important!

Watermark, thanks for the great link. Wondering if there’s any information on how many cal poly students pass the EIT prior to graduation?
