Going on a tour to the following colleges. What to expect???

Hey, I'm going on a college tour at the end of september/ beginning of october.

I will be visiting:

1) UCLA
2) USC
3) University of Michigan
4) Boston College
5) Boston university
6) UC Berkeley

I just want to know what to expect from each university. How are they all unique?

Thanks!

I like your approach. I didn’t attend any of these schools.

read up on what they say about themselves. read in each school’s forum what people there say about the schools. do your homework now. take notes.

Visited BC last month and its architecture for each building is the same- I think its Gothic- , I really enjoyed the feel of the buildings. They also have 2 required theology classes which none of the other schools have. Students at BC give back to the community a ton. Also went to BU and the layout of BU is a 2 parallel lines.

Lots of walking!!! UCLA and Berkeley are hilly and pretty good looking campuses. USC is kinda in the ghetto, but a good looking campus as well.

It should be a pretty time of year to visit U of Michigan, fall colors showing.

USC and UCLA expect “Indian summer” weather so pack with some shorts and sweaters for the evenings. UCLA will be very busy; pay the money and park in the structure. UCLA is huge and walking on Bruin Walk to the dorms will be active.
With USC, stay on the campus, don’t go exploring in the 'hood. The highway entrances and exits can be tricky. Expect lots of walking.
If you are OOS you will pay full costs at UCLA. Even with stellar stats, no financial aid for OOS since UCLA is a public school.
USC has a little more endowment money, that you may qualify for if your stats are spectacular (+2300 SATs)

Berkeley is hilly and has an interesting flavor. The town doesn’t like franchises so if you really want your famous star burger or Taco Bell burrito, you are out of luck. Weather changes and is generally cooler than LA. VERY BUSY highways. Very intense feel. This is also a public school so expect to pay full freight. California is out of money and has some very competitive in-state students. Scholarships go to children of California taxpayers.
