I'm touring colleges. What do you want to know?

Hi Everyone!
I am going on a trip soon to see all the Ivies and popular east coast schools. I want to take notes, pictures and videos to share with everyone. What kind of stuff do you want to know?

I’d be interested in things like:

 • how consistent is the architecture on those campuses? I was surprised how varied Harvard and Princeton were.
 • how friendly are the students and college employees? Do people speak to you when it’s obvious you’re a tourist?
 • in what way, if any, do the different colleges try to differentiate themselves to you?
 • do you get any kind of feel for the relative priority of undergrad vs grad education at the various schools?

Look forward to your report! Have a fun trip.

How happy are the students?
Is it possible to manage academics and friends without losing your sanity?

Ask the students what they did last Friday/Saturday night.

When I toured UNC a father asked the question, and one of the tour guides was out of town for a wedding, the other said she was at a 24 hr dance-a-thon. We went to another college (won’t say the name), and asked the the tour guide what he did. This tour guide said he watched a movie in the dorm with his friends.

While I know the answer can widely vary based on your tour guide, it does give you a decent idea about what students are doing. They can talk all they want about how many clubs and organizations their school has, but it’s interesting to get them talking about what they did in specific situations.
