I have to agree that the Flagler campus is gorgeous…it’s teeny tiny, but I saw it when I was in St. Augustine a while back…by a while I mean like, middle school? It was BEAUTIFUL though.

thanks it’s not about the tiers, but more about the enviroment, do they have the classes I’m looking for, is it a socially good fit, and because I’m allergic to dairy, I must make sure I can survive on the food they give me so it’s more then ok this is a second tier school, I should go there. I am looking at Goucher college, New School ( may be wrong name), Lawrence University, Colorado College, Susequehanah university, amherst ( it’s out of my reach, suffolk university and lehigh university( defitnaly out of my reach). Another one is Quinipiac in CT. There are big and small colleges on my list, but even thou in my mind I know I want a small school, I have to see if it a large school may be a better fit. If anyone has anymore reconmadations, that would be great, everyone is so helpful on here. thanks so much.

ps cool info about New College . The academic courses they offer are like no other schol, espically for pre-med. They offer latin classes, have a pre med club and if anyone is intrested in sociology they offer about 20 or more courses just for that major, so anyone reading this, check out their course calander.

yeah it’s really cool that New College of Florida is really cheap and it’s a public school yet it’s unique (plus they give scholarships to every student of at least something haha)

peacelovemusic,
Wherever you decide to go, I would research, research, research! A great website to utilize is [CollegeView — College Finder & Recruiting Service](http://www.collegeview.com). You can view video clips, audio clips, photos and endless stats as well as puruse through the schools website. I would highly encourage you to narrow down your choice to 3-4, then go visit the schools in person. If you visit too many, it will consume you and things will start to run together. That is one reason why high schools generally offer 3 college days!
Take in everything; how the students interact with each other, students and professors/administration interacts with one another, if the students look like they are having a good time and good experience, peek into a classroom, sit through a class if possible, take the tour and talk to people while you are there. Most college students are excited to tell you how great their experience is at their school. Most importantly, while you are visiting and taking everything in, try and picture yourself there (without your parents or whoever is taking you to visit).
You are right…college isn’t 100% academic…you will learn a lot outside of the classroom. It is a very important decision, but at the same time know that if it doesn’t work out for you for whatever reason, you can transfer to a different school. I believe there is a school out there for everyone…you just have to find it!
Good luck!

Rhodes College in Memphis is also a very good small college, and has good acceptance rates for med school.

My nephew is at Hampden Sydney right now, and he fell in love with Flagler on a recent visit there. Don’t know much about the school, other than strict opposite sex visit rules.

Don’t worry about that stuff. That is just to help protect ya and to help put the parents mind at ease too. It will also keep good values and morals within you!! I wouldn’t NOT choose a school because of a rule such as that…actually MANY small schools have those rules. It’s not a bad rule!! Think about it…you are coming from HS and its not like you could bring girls/guys into your room at home…at least I hope not!!

well no flagler is crossed off my list, and colorado college may be crossed of because a block schedule for pre-med is supposley very very hard.

See, you are already making your way through your list! Keep narrowing!! There’s over 3500 schools out there…you have a lot of narrowing to do!
