College Search Help!

Hey guys, I'm looking for some aid in choosing a college.

As an about to be Senior, I'm still clueless about where I want to go. I am a resident of Florida and money isn't too much of an option.

My stats are 3.75 UW GPA with 10 AP/ AICE and more honors throughout high school.
I got a 1300/1600 on the SAT and a 28 ACT.

My first choice and dream has always been Notre Dame, but I am coming to reality that I will not get in.

In a college, I would prefer a social scene, a "jock school" with sports but good academics. So basically one that you study hard and play hard. I would like the size to be middle road, but I wouldn't rule out any because of size. Would like the warm weather if possible.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I’m also about to be a senior too. Let’s see what you think of these: UF, UMD, Tulane, UGA

Clemson, Baylor, Wake Forest, Villanova.

How hard to UNC Chapel Hill to get in out of state? I know it’s way harder out of state then in…

Seeing as your from Florida, why not University of Florida.

I know, UF is a great school. But EVERYBODY goes there from my school. Something like 100 kids from the previous class went there. If possible, I want to be different, but it’s a good option at this point. Also, its kind of big. I mean over 45,000 for the campus is a lot!

Clemson! If you have any questions about Clemson, let me know!

Understandable.

UNC I believe is very rough to out of Stater students. I believe only 15% of their student body is OOS.

What are you majoring in?

Your post is unclear, is money not a probelm? Can you pay in full at a $50K private. If yes, you have lots of good options.

I’m still undecided. I would like to go to law school as of right now. Most likely either economics, political science or business if I had to choose today.

And money is not too much of an option, no.

What does that mean? Money is not a problem or money is a big issue?

It is pretty difficult, but not impossible. If you like it, then by all means apply. What’s the worst that can happen?

Sorry, I meant money is not too much of a problem, no.

Maybe U Tennessee or U Kentucky.

Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Tulane, Boston College if you’re willing to consider the northeast

At Tulane the sports scene is limited, since the school has not really been competitive except for baseball in some time. But it is D1 so if that qualifies for you, then it goes back on the list.

Your grades are good enough for ND, but your SAT is low. Why not try the ACT? Some people do better on that. Otherwise, given your stats as they stand, and ruling out some of the really large schools and/or cold weather schools, there is Miami (you don’t say where in FL you are, so not sure if that is too close to home for you), Wake and Vandy (stretches especially Vandy), Barksdale Honors College at Ole Miss, USCal (also a stretch), and Ga Tech. Otherwise you have to give up the warm weather, the size factor, and/or the sports. If you can either get your SATs up to 1400 or get like a 33-34 ACT, your chances at the stretches improve considerably and other schools like Duke become a stretch instead of a far reach.

Holy Cross and Villanova both similar to Notre Dame. Holy Cross like Notre Dame has great alumni network.

Marist College is very small, like 4200 undergrads, but they have a good business school. The athletics aren’t prestigious, the best thing going is their basketball, but from what I understand the student body is mostly preppy/jock so everyone is pretty involved in the sports.

edit: I meat to add that while it is almost a safety for you, they offer good merit aid. Even though you said money isn’t an issue, aid is always appealing.

USC…the sports scene is definitley big there though it might be a little big for you? Maybe Lehigh if you dont mind going to Pennsylvania…they have a big rivalry vs Laffayette

Hey fallenchemist nice to see you!
