Going to College for an MRS degree

So why did female students attend the University of Michigan or Northwestern in the 1950s?

Is this a southern thing?

I honestly never heard of an “MRS degree” until I read this thread. In fact, I had to g00gle the term to find out what it means exactly.

Definitely not just a Southern thing…I knew quite a few girls back in the 80s who were planning on getting their MRS degree…and I’m from Jersey ;)

Bay, I can totally appreciate your advice to your daughter and could see myself doing the same and being surprised with myself too!

But I am curious about what region you live in and what field you are in? The reason I am curious is I was single too, a professor in a business school, and with a PhD from an Ivy and I honestly had not encountered your dating experience (in fact maybe the opposite- I sometimes felt some guys were dating me just because of the novelty of my credentials). But your experience was so different so maybe because we were swimming in different pools? Might be more important info for our kids.
