Going to college in the UK??? Help...

<p>My D came very close to studying in London. She got a lot of help with the process from an organization called Across the Pond (study across the pond .com) D’s advisor answered all her questions about applying and helped her to understand what was required for the personal statement. As I understand it, as long as at least one uni is part of the ATP group, they are happy to help. D applied to 5, 3 through ATP. </p>

<p>Agree about the personal statement. Very important and usually key to getting an interview. I think one of the biggest issues is being asked to specialize at age 17 or 18. Many kids don’t really know what they want to do at that age. US universities are more open to “dabbling” for a couple years by taking gen eds and then deciding what you really like. I really can’t think of any advantage of the UK universities over the US universities, except that in England it is only 3 years instead of 4 (usually 4 in Scotland). Also, keep in mind that it is getting very difficult to get a work visa, so unless you are a dual citizen (UK or EU), you should not plan on staying the UK to work after graduation. </p>
