I think that's all you need? idk. Questions, comments, anything post.

Please chance!

37.43% chance! Haha, just kidding!

I think you’re a smart person, so you should know you’re at a very high level of academic performance, just like everyone else applying to Columbia :P

I’m not the most amazing person to give advice, but maybe you’ll agree with me. Columbia wants interesting people! That’s not a judgement on whether or not YOU’RE interesting, I’m just saying I can’t possibly tell that from a “chance me” thread. What I want to know more about are you passions. Is it photography, 'cuz photos are dope and someone who has a real eye for it is tops in my book. Or are you a serious francophile? French club and such? Les Miserables is your ****? That kind of stuff. What kind of extracurricular activities do you like? Is volunteering fun? Or maybe you like swimming, or rollerblading, or whatever?

All I mean is that being interesting and passionate is where the money at right now. One way to show that is to take one of your activities to DA NEXT LEVEL. Like do something epic with something you love and you will forever go down in history as that guy who did that epic thing that one time. For me that was placing very well at the state championships in speech and debate (which, by the way, was the only school activity I was involved with… nobody needs to be president of 5 clubs, that’s just dumb). The other way is to express your passion through your short essays and answers, which we can’t read, but I am fully convinced they will be awesome, well written, thoroughly edited, and full of character that is undeniably “you”.

All I’m trying to say is… as far as grades and statistics go, you’re fine. But that’s only 50% of applying. The other half is being a passionate, mothaflippin’ boss who grabs opportunity by the beard because it’s BALD ON THA OTHER SIDE.

And ya know what? You could do all this, and at the end of the day, you could very well still be rejected. At some point, it becomes luck! Not everyone who gets accepted is “better” than you. As a rising senior at Columbia, take it from me… I seriously question how numerous people got accepted. My best friend’s roommate his Sophmore year refused to clean out his room… like seriously… he would leave a slice of pizza under his bed for a month and pee in bottles because he was too lazy to go to the bathroom and leave them on his windowsill. Do you leave pizza under the bed for a month and pee in bottles? No? Well you’re already better than that guy. Try not to stress and know that with your grades you’ll be going SOMEWHERE good. This is kind of the advice I wish I had given myself when I was in high school… hope it helps lol.

You post made me laugh after a hard day of studying so I thank you for that ;P

And I must say, I’m very into photography. In fact I created a mini portfolio of my photography. But I highly doubt it would matter since I’m not going to columbia for a photography degree, but for pre-med.

Nope. You don’t seem like the Columbia type, try Wash U if you’re into pre-med.

Well I’m planning on going to a school in NYC. Maybe not columbia… But any school with a good pre-med program in NYC

Don’t know what scottdisick’s connection is with Columbia. Probably has none and just wants to be a jerk.

At any rate kimmylouie, ignore his comment. If you are interested in Columbia, why not apply? Columbia Admission’s will determine what its “type” is, not anonymous posters on CC. Won’t “chance,” because I do not believe in “chance” threads. But I certainly believe you should apply where ever you want. No one can say whether or not you will be admitted. NO ONE!!! You won’t be, however, if you do not apply. Good luck.
