Going to out of state college: excited? nervous?

So, I'm still in the process of deciding between my lovely but pricy offers of admission at UChicago & Columbia along with a full tuition scholarship at the University of Pittsburgh.

Anyway, the point of this thread was mainly: I'm going to college out of state! How about you?

While on one hand I'm super duper excited, I'm also starting to get a little bit nervous. It will be a complete change of environment. I live in Florida, so going up north will be interesting. Also, I've had the same set of best friends for basically 10+ years now, and I'm wondering/worrying about what it will be like to find a new "group."

Is anyone else in the same boat? This is just a lil place to get excited/release anxiety :)

Not really a big deal for me. I’ve moved every 3 or 4 years my entire life.

I honestly will not miss the deep south one bit, I’m pretty excited to go up north. =p

I’m from Florida, going to Iowa next year. I cannot wait to get out of here. I’ll miss my family and friends and stuff but I hate it here. I’m really excited.

Don’t worry.

You will adjust quickly.

My son went to school in the United Kingdom, and flew out there to start classes without even ever having seen the school.

Yet he is doing fine.

Consider it an adventure, and a new chapter in your life story.

I’m going from South Florida to Washington DC! I’m soooooo excited, but I will really miss my friends and family. Mostly, though, I’m looking forward to living in such an amazing city and all the opportunities I’ll have. At the same time, though, it’s scary - this is probably the biggest change I’ve experienced in my life so far, going from childhood to adulthood in one giant leap.

Don’t U of Chicago and Columbia meet full need?

Also, don’t fret! It’s an adventure, being in a whole new city by yourself. Not to be cliche, but you can make yourself into anything you want.
