I'm extremely interested in attending UPenn for college, more specifically Wharton. However, my family and I have figure out that financially (counting for financial aid) I have two options: going to a state school for undergraduate and then Penn for grad school, or going to Penn for undergraduate and then a state school for graduate. Which of these would be the better option? And, does anybody even have a chance at getting into Wharton for grad if they only went to a state school for undergraduate?

go state for undergrad. grad school needs to be better

What do you plan on going to grad school for?

FYI, if you do get into Wharton, then you should know that 2/3 of its graduates end up not needing to go to grad school.

State school for grad might actually be better. The perception of prestige at grad programs is unlike that at undergrad, and is far more department/program specific. It’s very possible to attend a state school with a grad program that ranks higher than that at an ivy league/private school.
